About Me
More about my experiences with incarceration on the blog and reflections page (:

Hi, I’m Kenzie Rose
What began as a part of me that I wanted to pretend didn’t exist, became a a significant experience I want to make different for others going through the same thing. My father’s legal troubles began in middle school and became the dominant factor ruling my life through the my high school experience. The effects still haunt me today, 12+ years later and even though he is now out and back in society. I am not alone in this experience. Millions of kids have parents who have been incarcerated and yet experiential guides, how to books, and support systems feel pretty much non-existent.
Fast forward to 2024, I met a friend in class at the University of Notre Dame who had also had her father go to prison when she was young. To add to the crazy coincidence, her father also “went away” for white collar crime. We began getting coffee, sharing our stories, and the similarities moved me. I was not alone in what happened to my family, how I felt, or how little is out there for people whose family members get ripped out of their lives and thrown in prison (justly or unjustly).
Since I was a little girl, I have loved reading and writing. I was, and still am, a total dork. This blog and website is my way of bringing that passion into something tangible, to help myself make sense of the utterly crazy and traumatic situation that I went through, and hopefully, help someone else feel seen.
